Managed by Crown Simmons, Gunters Mead was development and started by former RAF pilot Roger Gunter Simmons & his wife Iris, who strived to create the beautiful and peaceful retirement grounds that stand today. The 5 acre grounds are made up of the converted mansion and several purpose built apartments, all set amongst landscaped gardens that are maintained expertly by the resident gardener. The development also has the added benefit of; a Guest-suite, Residents` Lounge, an outdoor seating area, putting green should anyone feel inclined, a part-time Scheme Manager, a number of garages, covered parking bays and plenty of guest parking. The garages and covered parking bays can be applied for via Crown Simmons or through the Scheme Manager.

Information for those with mobility concerns

The development is very much geared towards those that can live independ of walking aids and wheelchairs, and could prove challenging if a resident were to enjoy all the development has to offer. The development is split into a number of detached segments, with none of the apartments having lift access and no plans in place to add one. Some assistance may be required to open all communal entrance door as they are not automated, nor are the laundry and Residents’ lounge doors. The building housing the majority of the development facilities is located towards the centre of the detached segments, and can be accessed using the outdoor laid paths which meanders their way around the development. To access all areas of the development residents will need to use a number of stairs, as well as be able to negotiate uneven paving slabs. Access to the development guest suite is also enclusive to those that can use stairs, as it is located on the first floor in the same building as the Residents Lounge and Laundry. Esher high street is the nearest significant shopping area, with the walk fairly long, narrow and uneven pavements and no safe means of crossing the A3 roundabout towards Esher. To combat this there is a development shuttle service run by Crown Simmons and the Scheme Manager. For more information on this please feel free to contact us or the Scheme Manager directly.
